Welcome to the Mamet Blog
7th June 2009
Okay, we've been away for a long, long time, we've been so busy with our other sides that this site has really suffered. Not any more! Great news about Mamet's new play 'RACE' opening in New York later this year. Lots of actors signing up for it, little heard about it.

Gutted that there was not a cinema available showing Redbelt, truly gutted. Even tried to go further afield and still no. No one appreciates Mamet's genius and the cinemas acted with ignorance in not allowing this work the time it needed for a good audience to come and see it. Chatted with our good friend, the Mamet Insider and lots of good things coming this way soon.

Mamet's film Redbelt is released in UK cinemas today. We already have fairly negative reviews in the UK newspapers but viewer responses seem more positive. Watch out for Mamet Nerd reviews will follow.

It's just a few days until Redbelt comes out in the UK cinemas. I'm excited. Some friends have already seen it and they seem to think it was okay. They said it was more of thinking person's movie more than a traditional martial arts film.
Starting to add more and more content regarding David Mamet. You'll find articles on the site about David Mamet's play November, the Atlantic Theater company and a short Mamet filmography. Feel free to offer us any feedback via the Contacts page.

Was surfing around for Mamet stuff today and found that the New York Times had created a collection of resources related to David Mamet. It was really good to see that more organisations are doing this. TIME magazine recently made all of their back issues available online, so Mamet is searchable there too. Read the Mamet collection at the NY Times.

Excited about hearing that it's only 23 days until Mamet's latest film REDBELT is released in the UK. Why did it take so long? Who knows.... Let's hope that the movie Redbelt will be just as good as its promised. I suppose if I wanted to see it sooner, I could order it from Amazon!

Apologies, we've been so busy with our many projects that we've We've started a series of acting classes in Glasgow teaching Practical Aesthetics, the technique devised by Mamet and Macy. More articles and great links will be placed here over the coming weeks. Redbelt due out in UK cinemas soon!
22nd July 2008:
Watched the first episode of Season 3 of The Unit on Sunday night. Bit worried that it's turning into the X-Files, all very government conspiracy stuff, and of course, God of Acting Robert Patrick's in it too (he was in the X-Files for those of you who are unaware). The other thing is that I was pretty unimpressed by the new theme tune, it's really wimped out and lost its army feel. It almost feels like the network had to emasculate it a little. Anyway, the writing and the acting is still kick ass, so we're happy!
20th July 2008:
We've been up for a day now and we're looking at our first visitors, adding links across the web. Looking forward to hearing more about the film version of Mamet's play The Voysey Inheritance that Sony Pictures is going to make.
19th July 2008:
We're up and running, the Mamet Nerd is live. It's very exciting, finally our website is up and we can start making an impact on the web.
